Pacific Hydrocephalus & CSF Center

Overview

Comprehensive Adult Hydrocephalus & CSF Treatment

At the Pacific Hydrocephalus & CSF Center, we are at the forefront of care, providing compassionate, tailored treatments for adult patients affected by excess cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) buildup in the brain—a condition that can deeply impact memory, thinking, and quality of life.

Excess cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and resulting hydrocephalus manifests in many ways, including memory loss, dementia, unsteady gait, and incontinence. With multiple possible causes, our multispecialty team uses leading-edge diagnostics and tailored treatments to restore balance and improve mental clarity. We provide surgical expertise, including endoscopic and other minimally invasive procedures for hydrocephalus and CSF management.

If you live in the United States outside Greater Los Angeles or are living abroad, our physicians can promptly review your imaging studies and other tests, and provide a recommendation on treatment options.

Hydrocephalus & Related Conditions Treated by Our Specialists

Adults with hydrocephalus or any cerebrospinal fluid dysfunction, can benefit from our diagnostic techniques and multidisciplinary approach to symptom relief.

Diagnostics & Procedures

For patients with structural CSF blockages–particularly those with colloid cysts, pineal tumors, aqueductal stenosis–minimally invasive endoscopic surgery is often the most effective treatment option. In many cases, this approach helps avoid the placement of shunts, which is commonly needed with other approaches.

Patients with tumors or masses in the ventricles or surrounding structures like the pineal gland may benefit with an endoscopic biopsy of the lesion. The biopsy, or endoscopic intraventricular surgery, can be approached through the ventricles and performed along with an ETV. These biopsies can help avoid a larger operation or a blind needle biopsy.
