Patient Story: Jay Huguley’s Experience With Minimally Invasive Brain Surgery

by Zara Jethani

Actor Jay Huguley, known for his work on AMC’s Walking Dead and HBO’s True Detective, was a guest presenter at Providence Saint John’s Health Center‘s  75thGala.

During his speech, he recounted how he suddenly lost eyesight and color perception in his left eye, which led to his own surprising brush with brain surgery for a condition called neurosarcoidosis. Performed by Pacific Neuroscience Institute experts neurosurgeon Dr. Daniel Kelly with follow up treatment provided by neurologist Dr. Santosh Kesari, Jay’s surgery and treatment were a complete success.

Being an actor, he was particularly grateful to have found Dr. Kelly after a long search, whose expertise in minimally invasive brain surgery approaches leaves no visible scar. Jay was effusive in his admiration for Dr. Kesari who took care of his medical treatments after surgery.
