A major mission of the Pacific Neuroscience Institute is to provide education, support and empowerment for those dealing with neurological challenges. Through our speakers, volunteers and educational support, we strive to help patients and their families cope with and ultimately conquer their illnesses.

Our support group is for patients, their family members, and friends.

Pituitary Disorders Patient Support Group

Under the direction of Daniel F. Kelly, MD, and patient advocate Sharmyn McGraw, our group meets four times each year with guest speakers, patient discussion and light refreshments.

Pacific Pituitary Disorders Center at Pacific Neuroscience Institute is a comprehensive Center of Excellence. Our doctors are committed to giving patients the most current and accurate information available to help improve their quality of life. Join us for this free patient, family & friends support group meeting. We are proud and excited for you to meet one of our favorite neurosurgeons, Dr. Garni Barkhoudarian, better known as Dr. B, by most patients. Also come and meet our newest team member, Dr. Katherine Araque, who is a board-certified endocrinologist at Pacific Pituitary Disorders Center. Dr. Araque brings her special expertise in clinical and research projects in the diagnosis and treatment of pituitary hormone deficiency in adults, Cushing’s disease, prolactinomas, acromegaly, sellar masses and other pituitary tumors. 

There will be time for questions and answers and for patients to share support with each other. 

Lunch will be served following our speakers.

Stroke Patient Support Group

Stroke Support Group #PNI

Join us as we help stroke survivors, their families and close friends cope with the aftermath of a stroke. This group provides information on stroke recovery, resources and a forum to learn new coping skills and is facilitated by stroke survivor Dana Rivera. Post-stroke and Acquired Brain Injury Class SMC 2018

Pathfinders Classes at the Santa Monica College (SMC) Emeritus Program is for individuals who have had an acquired brain injury (ABI) and completed a rehabilitative course of therapy. These ongoing classes are free and promote effective coping for common life changes following ABI, as well as a sense of community through peer support.

Qigong Class

Qigong at Providence Saint John's Health Center

Cancer survivors and their caregivers please join us to cultivate energy and experience this ancient healing art. Qi Gong is a low impact, mind-body practice, that integrates meditation with movement. The effects of Qi Gong have been shown to produce positive effects on physical, psychosocial, and quality of life.

Philanthropic support from a generous donor enables this group to be offered at no cost to participants.

For patients, caregivers, and family members of those impacted by cancer. Join others who understand what you’re going through. Support group is open to all patients and caregivers and not exclusive to those receiving care at Saint John’s Health Center. All programs and services are provided at no cost to participants.
