The American Academy of Neurology, American Brain Foundation, and Ted M. Burns Award selection committee announced Dr. Barbara Giesser, FAAN, FANA, as the recipient of the 2022 Ted M. Burns Humanism in Neurology Award. The award honors a member of the neurology profession for exhibiting humanism in four categories: leadership, advocacy, innovation, and creativity.

Named for Ted M. Burns, an eminent neurologist specializing in neuromuscular diseases, this award celebrates neurologists who have changed the paradigm for humanism and education, and in doing so, broadened the reach and scope of neurology internationally.
