Sandra Narayanan, MD, FAHA, FANA, FSVIN, FAAN, is board-certified in neurology and vascular neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and CAST (Committee on Advanced Subspecialty Training)-certified in neuroendovascular surgery. She is a vascular neurologist and neurointerventional surgeon at Pacific Stroke & Neurovascular Center, Pacific Neuroscience Institute. She is director of the neurointerventional program and co-director of the stroke program at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank.

Dr. Narayanan received her medical degree from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in 2001 and completed neurology residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital, followed by a vascular neurology fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital and fellowships in diagnostic and interventional neuroradiology at Emory University Hospital. She practiced for over a decade at Wayne State University School of Medicine, where she served as the Director of the Neuroendovascular Programs at Detroit Medical Center and Beaumont Hospitals-Dearborn/Taylor/Wayne/Trenton. From 2019-2022, Dr. Narayanan was an Associate Professor in the Departments of Neurology and Neurosurgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and an active site PI/sub-I on numerous clinical trials in the University of Pittsburgh Stroke Institute. She has authored nearly 50 peer-reviewed publications. 

Skilled in a wide range of adult and pediatric diagnostic and neuroendovascular procedures, Dr. Narayanan is also experienced in prehospital and acute stroke diagnosis and management, telestroke assessments, and secondary stroke prevention. Dr. Narayanan’s professional and research interests include stroke systems of care, cerebral venous sinus stenosis, quality improvement in neurointervention, radiation safety, and devices to treat hemorrhagic and ischemic stroke. She maintains a busy clinical practice and is passionate about medical education and mentoring.

Dr. Narayanan is an active member of the Society of Neurointerventional Surgery (SNIS), previously serving as Member-At-Large (Interventional Neurology), and of the Society of Vascular and Interventional Neurology (SVIN). She chairs the SNIS Women in Neurointervention Committee and is a member of the SNIS Pediatric Neurointervention and SVIN Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committees.
