Mary Ellen Kanoff

Mary Ellen Kanoff is General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of Peninsula Pacific, a private equity firm in Los Angeles. Since joining Peninsula Pacific in 2013, Ms. Kanoff has established the legal department and is responsible for the legal and business affairs aspects for fund investments including mergers and acquisitions, dispositions, regulatory compliance and litigation. Prior to joining Peninsula Pacific, she served as a corporate M&A partner at Latham & Watkins for over 25 years.
In addition to serving on the board of the Pacific Neuroscience Institute Foundation since 2022, Ms. Kanoff serves as a Member of the Board of Trustees of Saint John’s Health Center Foundation and the UC Berkeley Foundation. Ms. Kanoff also serves on the boards of Chrysalis (a nonprofit that serves the homeless in the Los Angeles area) and The Farmlink Project (a nonprofit that addresses food insecurity in the United States).
Ms. Kanoff received her bachelor’s degree from UC Berkeley and her J.D. from UC Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall), cum laude, serving as senior note editor of the California Law Review.
