About Dr. Karimi

Dr. Karimi is board certified in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery and is fellowship-trained in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. Karimi’s experience with endoscopic endonasal skull base surgery began during his residency training at the University of Florida-Gainesville in 2008. He was able to further refine his skills in an practice at Pacific Eye & Ear Specialists with Drs. Chester F. Griffiths MD and Howard Krauss MD.

Graduating from Indiana University at the age of 20 with dual degrees in Biochemistry and Spanish, Dr. Karimi furthered his education at the Indiana University School of Medicine, graduating Alpha Omega Alpha, a distinction reserved for the 10% of medical students nationwide.

Following this Dr. Karimi entered his five-year residency in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery at the University of Florida and was recognized for numerous awards including top anatomist and resident teacher of the year. Dr. Karimi then went on to complete a one year fellowship in Facial Plastic & Reconstructive surgery in Toronto, Canada at one of the most coveted fellowships accredited by the American Board of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery.

Dr. Karimi scored 99th percentile on his board examination for Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery and won the top prize for his research project titled “Ethical Considerations in Aesthetic Rhinoplasty.”

Dr. Karimi is a multiple recipient of Southern California Superdoctors, Top Doctors and RealSelf’s 100 awards.

Outside of the Hospital

Dr. Karimi maintains an active private practice in general otolaryngology, facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, and endoscopic endonasal skull base surgery.

He is a staff physician at Saint Johns Health Center, UCLA-Santa Monica, and Marina Del Rey Hospital. Dr. Karimi is active in the education of UCLA medical students and resident physicians at his office.

He is also active in research collaborating with the BTC team in assessing postoperative outcomes and quality of life measures in addition to working with The Angeles Clinic in clinical trials in head and neck cancer.
