Aditya (Adi) Iyer MD, MS, is a board certified fellowship-trained neurosurgeon with a focus on vascular diseases of the brain and spine at Pacific Neuroscience Institute®. As one of California’s few dual-trained neurosurgeons, Dr. Iyer is able to offer both minimally invasive open surgical techniques as well as incisionless catheter based procedures to treat patients with strokes, aneurysms, AVMs, tumors and pain.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Dr. Iyer attended the highly gifted magnet program in the LAUSD. He then attended Cornell University College of Arts and Sciences under the prestigious college scholar program, where he completed an honors degree in both mathematics and economics.
He completed a master’s degree in applied mathematics and information engineering at Cornell University College of Engineering. He received a merit-based full-ride scholarship to the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine where he graduated at the top of his class.
During medical school, Dr. Iyer completed a Doris Duke clinical research fellowship in neurosurgery as well as an Albert Schweitzer humanitarian fellowship. He completed his neurosurgery residency and interventional neuroradiology fellowship at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California. He has over 40 peer-reviewed publications, and is a member of the SNIS, AANS and CNS where he served as a leadership fellow.
Dr. Iyer holds several medical device patents, and brings leading-edge technology and minimally invasive approaches to help his patients. His philosophy is to treat his patients with respect and compassion as if they were his own family members. In his spare time, Dr. Iyer likes to play piano, guitar, and drums. He enjoys hiking with his wife, son and rescue greyhounds.
