Kathleen Castro currently serves as a Neurosurgery Nurse Practitioner at Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center Torrance. Her track record of excellence in various aspects of nursing makes her one of the many dedicated team members at the Pacific Neuroscience Institute, South Bay.
Kathleen’s role is to work alongside with our excellent team of PNI South Bay neurosurgeons in providing a top-notch neurosurgical care and education to our patients.
Kathleen obtained her Master of Science in Nursing, Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner in 2017 at the University of Texas Health San Antonio with High Honors. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the California State University, East Bay as magna cum laude and was a recipient of the President’s Volunteer Award in 2013.
Prior to being an advanced practice nurse, Kathleen worked as a registered nurse in several health care settings such as ER, Neuro ICU, Telemetry, Neurosciences, Rehabilitation, Sub-Acute Care, and Skilled Nursing facilities. Given her wide range of nursing experience in different settings, she is known for her strong clinical judgement and patient-centered care.
Kathleen served as the Secretary of the Philippine Nurses Association San Antonio (PNASA) from 2016-2018. She is an active member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM), California Association for Nurse Practitioner (CANP), American Association of Neuroscience Nurses (AANN), Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society, and Philippine Nurses Association of America (PNAA). She received the 2018 PNASA Excellence Rising Star Award.
