Mary has lived on the Westside since 1986 after moving here from the East Coast. She and her husband, Jay, have three children, a married son and daughter in Chicago and a married daughter in Dallas.

Both daughters were born at Saint John’s Health Center. Mary served as board chair for St. Matthew’s Parish School and Marymount High School and has held board positions for the Westside Guild of Children’s Hospital, Las Madrinas, Yo San University, Junior League of Los Angeles, Loyola High School and the Juniors of Social Service Auxiliary. She and her mother were founding members of the Irene Dunne Guild (IDG) and she was president for three years.

Mary served on the board of directors of Saint John’s Health Center for five years and was chair of the board of directors for two of those years. She was on the board of directors for Pacific Neuroscience Institute for three years and is on the advisory committee. She currently serves on the boards of St. Monica Elementary and High School, Marymount High School (Emeriti) and on the University of Notre Dame Undergraduate Advisory Committee.

She also mentors women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. Her father, Jim Hesburgh, is a trustee emeritus and former chair of the Saint John’s Health Center Foundation. Mary’s family has been committed to Saint John’s for over 40 years.
