Dorothy P. Dada, MD, PhD

Dorothy P. Dada, MD, PhD, is a board-certified, fellowship-trained neurologist with extensive experience in the care for adolescent and adult patients with headache, facial pain, concussion and mild traumatic brain injury. Dr. Dada is part of the Providence network and provides facial pain management consultations for the Pacific Facial Pain Center at Pacific Neuroscience Institute.

It was her childhood pediatrician who first inspired her to pursue medicine. She was often hospitalized for frequent asthma attacks, and her pediatrician had the greatest skill in creating a secure and lighthearted environment during the most frightful situations for her family. She saw in him a unique ability to balance the art of medicine with true empathy and compassion. As her studies evolved, she earned a PhD in neuroscience. Her desire was to fully understand the mechanisms involved in brain injury and develop novel therapies for brain repair. This was both a challenging and very rewarding experience. During this timeframe she realized the importance of the opportunity to truly connect with her patients and that expanded her goals and her true passion for neurology.

As a headache and traumatic brain injury specialist, Dr. Dada enjoys the unique opportunity to learn how these conditions affect the lives of her adult and pediatric patients. Through a comprehensive assessment, she works together with each patient and family to develop a treatment plan that not only alleviates suffering but leads to functional recovery. Her compassion for helping those in need extends well beyond her workplaces. Dr. Dada is very active in community service mentoring undergraduate and medical students, volunteering for health fairs, and promoting wellness and awareness of heart disease in women.

Her extensive studies in medicine and neurology include fellowships in the UCLA Goldberg Migraine program and the Steve Tisch Sports Neurology-Neurotrauma program. Dr. Dada is board certified and a member of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Her honors and awards are extensive throughout her academic career. She has lectured and presented throughout the country and has produced manuscripts for the Journal of American Geriatrics Society and the International Journal of Geriatric Psychiatry.
