Our Center of Excellence
We appreciate that you have options for your care, and value the opportunity to be your partner in health. Here are a few facts about the Pacific Stroke and Aneurysm Center:
- Minimally invasive, personalized treatment: For patients who require treatment for stroke, aneurysms or vascular malformations, our comprehensive team of neurosurgeons, stroke neurologists and interventional radiologists offer all forms of advanced therapy, including minimally invasive endovascular treatments, microvascular neurosurgery, and noninvasive adjuvant therapies. Endovascular treatment and micro-vascular neurosurgery allows our surgeons to safely approach even the most difficult regions of the brain with the smallest possible incisions. Endovascular techniques use fine catheters threaded through blood vessels in the lower body to reach blockages in the brain. Microvascular approaches involve minimally invasive neurosurgery to repair damage caused by stroke, aneurysms or vascular malformations. Our unique expertise includes extracranial-to-intracranial bypasses, complex vascular malformation microsurgery, deep cavernous malformations and uncoilable complex aneurysm surgery. This broad expertise and multidisciplinary approach allows our team to provide optimal treatment for each individual patient.
- Experienced physician leaders: Our physician scientists are leaders in the field, with extensive track records publishing medical literature that defines new standards of care and pushes innovative new techniques in precision therapy, including garnering numerous awards for clinical and research excellence. Our dedication to academic research is based in a commitment to improving clinical treatment options and quality of life for every one of our patients. Dr. Jason Tarpley’s 2017 thrombectomy research was cited in Wall Street Journal.
- Award-winning hospitals: Providence Saint John’s Health Center has state-of-the-art operating suites and specialty neurovascular staff dedicated to the care of patients with stroke, brain aneurysms and vascular malformations. The hospital holds the Primary Stroke Center Gold Seal of Approval designation from the Joint Commission, in recognition of our rigorous standards in neurovascular care. Providence Saint John’s has been certified as a Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center (TSC) by the Joint Commission. Providence Saint John’s Health Center (PSJHC) is the first center to receive this level of designation in LA County, and also serves as a comprehensive stroke system for LA County EMS.
In 2018, PNI stroke teams worked with our affiliate hospitals to achieve Comprehensive Stroke Center status at Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center Torrance and Providence Saint Joseph’s Medical Center in Burbank.
