Candita Rodriguez, BA, BSN, FNP-BC, is an experienced neurosurgery nurse practitioner who supports Dr. Garni Barkhoudarian at the Pituitary Disorders Center, Adult Hydrocephalus Center and Facial Pain Center at Pacific Neuroscience Institute.
Originally a student of English literature and theater, Candita received her BA from Florida International University. With a desire to pursue a career in medicine, Candita completed an accelerated nursing program and dedicated the first six years of her career in a neonatal intensive care unit at Baptist Hospital, Miami. For the next five years, she went on to work for the University of Miami in the department of neurosurgery mostly caring for patients with spine and brain tumors.
Candita furthered her education to become a nurse practitioner, receiving her MSN from Florida International University in Miami. Since becoming an nurse practitioner, she has worked in primary care, occupational medicine and neurosurgery settings, working for a level 1 trauma center in Virginia.
In pursuit of more knowledge and experience, Candita is looking to obtain her Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) to assist in surgery. She is a karate teacher and also currently studies film writing at UCLA.
