Brain Mapping

A growing area of clinical research is the development of devices to administer computer-based tests of thinking, learning and memory.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has cleared several computerized cognitive testing devices for use in patients. These tests include the following:

  • FDA-approved ERP/qEEG device (brain wave test), which helps to differentiate between dementia and depression, track disease progression and assess overall cognitive deficits associated with dementia and concussion due to traumatic brain injury.
  • Other Automated Neuropsychological Assessment Metrics (ANAM) devices may also be utilized, with the advantage of a standardized approach to administration with the testing performed the same way each time.

Using both clinical tests and computer-based tests can give our physicians a clearer understanding of the specific cognitive difficulties experienced by a patient.
