Providence Saint John's Health Center (PSJHC) is the first center to receive this level of designation in LA County, and also serves as a comprehensive stroke system for LA County EMS.

Thrombectomy For Treating Severe Strokes, All Hospitals Aren’t Equal

A Wall Street Journal article reports about a revolutionary procedure called thrombectomy which can treat severe strokes, but most hospitals in the U.S. don’t perform it. Dr. Jason Tarpley's 2017 research is cited and states that stroke patients taken directly to a thrombectomy-capable hospital are five times less likely to be disabled or die.
